Scone, Pilot and Park Place claimed respective USPA Gold Cup victories in matches played on Saturday, March 4 and Sunday. March 5. The USPA Gold Cup is the second leg of the prestigious The Gauntlet of Polo is currently underway at the brand new USPA-owned National Polo Center-Wellington, set in Wellington, Florida. Thirteen teams, up to 22 goals, are in competition.
In Saturday’s single match, Scone earned a narrow 9-8 win over Tamera in extra chukka. There was double action on Sunday, where reigning champions Pilot claimed a victory over Dazos 12-10, while Park Place defeated Shack Attack II by an impressive 15 goals to 8.
The USPA Gold Cup was established in 1974, and was played at Oak Brook Polo Club, in Oak Brooks, Illinois, before moving to Milwaukee Polo Club, in Hartland, Wisconsin from 1975-1978. In 1979, it landed in Florida. Like the CV Whitney Cup, the USPA Gold Cup will be entirely played at the at the brand new USPA-owned National Polo Center-Wellington, set in Wellington, Florida.
