It’s the final countdown for the Turkish Airlines Gold Cup in Sotogrande. Following the games played at Ayala Polo Club, Los Pinos Grounds on Sunday August 25, the high goal semifinals have been set as well as those of the medium goal contest. The low goal semifinalists will be unveiled on Tuesday.

  • MEDIUM GOAL

Sunday action started with medium goal. Brunei and John Smith opened fire, with the Bolkiah family’s lineup under command by producing the accurate goals to maintain the lead. Brunei were victorious 12-6 and finished the league stage in first place, with Gabriel Aguirre’s foursome following in second place.

  • HIGH GOAL

High goal came up next, with the much anticipated clash of the brothers, between Calatagan (Facundo Pieres) and Kazak (Nicolás Pieres). The French foursome had a better start, but the locals managed to make a comeback, and claimed the 15-10 win.

La Dolfina Dos Lunas and MB Polo met up next; the latter had already no hopes to qualify to semifinals due to the result of the previous match, and their contenders needed a win to go to a penalty shootout against Kazak and Calatagan. At the end of the day, MB won 11-8, and it was all over for the Argentinian-Spaniard lineup.

The high goal Gold Cup semifinals have been set as follows:

ATL Marine & Energy vs Kazak

Calatagan vs Sainte Mesme

The finals of the Gold Cup are due on Friday August 30 (medium goal) and Saturday August 31 (high goal and low goal).
