The Tortugas Open for the Emilio de Anchorena Cup, the second leg of the Argentine Triple Crown, kicked off on Tuesday October 10, with two games, at Tortugas Country Club. The opening day saw La Dolfina Saudi and La Natividad victorious over La Ensenada and Cría La Dolfina, respectively. The 83rd. Tortugas Open sees eight teams up to 40 goals, in participation.
In the first contest, La Dolfina Saudi, the recent winners of the 130th. Hurlingham Open, remained in the winning streak, after defeating La Ensenada 18-9. Following a close first chukka, La Dolfina Saudi seized the reins from the second chukka onwards, widening their advantage. By the end of the fourth chukka, they had an impressive 11-4 lead, mostly thanks to Poroto Cambiaso’s remarkable performance, who produced eleven goals.
Up next, reigning champions, La Natividad, swept Cría La Dolfina by a heavy 22-4 score. But perhaps the most important thing of the second match was the position changes within La Natividad lineup – Facundo Pieres, Camilo Castagnola, Pablo Mac Donough and Bartolomé Castagnola Jr., with the latter delivering an extraordinary performance playing as a back. It is worth to note that Jeta Castagnola remained as the forwarder in the past Hurlingham Open and Facundo Pieres was the back; the midfield had Pablo (2) and Barto (3), who swapped positions today.
