The 83rd. Tortugas Open resumed on Wednesday October 11, with double action, that took place at Tortugas Country Club. The winners were the Ulloa family’s two lineups – La Hache La Roca and La Hache Cría & Polo. The Tortugas Open, second leg of the prestigious Argentine Triple Crown, sees eight teams up to 40 goals, in participation.

 

In the opening match, La Hache La Roca, the recent runner-up of the Hurlingham Open, overwhelmed La Irenita Clinova and defeated them by a heavy 21-7 score. La Hache La Roca led the path thoroghout the seven chukkas of play, under the guidance of Francisco Elizalde’s extraordinay performance, top scorer (he produced nine goals) and very accurate in terms of penalty conversions.

 

Up next, La Hache Cría & Polo – the last winners of the Drysdale Cup, the Subsidiary Trophy of the Hurlingham Open – claimed a narrow win 13-12 win over Ellerstina – with Bautista Bayugar back on the saddle – thanks to a impressive goal courtesy of Facundo Sola in the last minutes within regulation time. The match had three balanced chukkas, although La Hache Cría & Polo managed to retain the lead. However, in the two following chukkas, La Hache Cría & Polo widened the gap, reaching a 12-6 advantage halfway the fifth chukka. Ellerstina managed to take off in the sixth chukka to tie at 12-all, until Facundo Sola came up in the last play of the game to secure La Hache Cría & Polo their first victory in Tortugas. It is worth to note that the winners had Lukin Monteverde and Toly Ulloa, who made their absolute debut in the tournament.

Ellerstina: Gonzalo Pieres Jr.  9 (3 goals, one penalty), Nicolás Pieres 9 (7, one penalty 1), Bautista Bayugar 8, Ignatius du Plessis 9 (2, one penalty). Total: 35.

Score La Hache Cría y Polo: 3-2, 5-4, 7-5, 9-6, 12-8, 12-12 y 13-12.
