The XII FIP World Polo Championship commenced on Saturday October 29 in Wellington, United States. The tournament sees eight countries, in lineups up to 14 goals, in participation: United States (host country), Argentina, Spain, Pakistan, Italy, Uruguay and Australia. Action is underway at Valiente Polo Farm and National Polo Center. It is the comeback of the World Polo Championship after five years, with the last time being played in Australia, back in 2017, that saw Argentina victorious.

 

The final of the XII FIP World Polo Championship is set to be played on Sunday, November 6.

 

The summary of the opening day is the following:

ARGENTINA 10-4.5 MEXICO

ARGENTINA: Joaquín Sánchez 3, Tomás Delfino 3, Marcos Panelo 4, Tomás Marín Moreno 4. Total: 14.

MEXICO: Juan José de Alba 4, Diego Velarde 2, Alejandro González 4, Víctor Stein 2 (subbed in by Joel Acosta 4, in the fourth chukka). Total: 12.

 

ESPAÑA 9-7.5 PAKISTAN

The XII FIP World Polo Championship will resume on Monday October 31, with the following order of play:  

9:30am: Argentina vs. Pakistan

11:30am: Spain vs. Mexico

1:30pm: Uruguay vs. Australia

3:30pm: United States vs. Austrailia
