The most coveted polo trophy in the world, the prestigious Triple Crown, is due to commence on Tuesday September 24, with the 131st. Hurlingham Open. One of the lineups that will be playing the Triple Crown is Ellerstina, the foursome that made their official presentation on Friday September 20, at Ellerstina Polo Club, set in General Rodriguez, Province of Buenos Aires.

Ellerstina, founded in 1992 by Gonzalo Pieres, will feature a brand new lineup this year, that includes Sapo Caset (9), Lukin Monteverde (6), Gonzalo Pieres Jr. (9) and Nachi Du Plessis. A very significant change is it will be the first time since 2003 that the foursome will have only one Pieres, Gonzalito. While Nachi Du Plessis has already played for the Z, the remaining members are the young and talented Lukin Monteverde, who made his debut in the Triple Crown, last year, with El Overo Z7 UAE; and Guillermo Caset Jr., who played for La Hache La Roca, in 2023.

The General Rodriguez-based lineup will have a hard task ahead – with their 35-goals, they are the fifth team behind La Natividad (40), La Dolfina (40), La Hache (36) and La Ensenada (36). The last titles of the Triple Crown for Ellerstina have been the Tortugas Open (2021) and the Argentine Open (2012). This time is a matter of wait and see whether this foursome works as expected.
