The 23rd. edition of the Open de France, the premier tournament of the Polo Club du Domaine du Chantilly, is due to start on Friday, September 1, at the lavish and sophisticated club, located only thirty minutes from Paris, the City of Lights. An edition that promises to deliver a fantastic 2023 tournament, one of the most significant and remarkable events of the polo season in Europe, that will see a total of eighteen teams up to 16 goals, in participation. The lineups due to participate in the prestigious competition include players from Argentina, Austria, Belgium, England, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland the the United States.
Three other tournaments will be played alongside the Open de France – Trophée du Capitaine des Jeux (0-4), Trophée Castel (6-8) and the Open de France Féminin (12-16 ladies handicap).
Among those who will compete in the upcoming Open the France are the current reigning champions, Edouard Carmignac’s Talandracas, as well as Isabelle Larenaudie’s Tedelou, in a lineup that include three members of the Zavaleta family, Juan Martín, Simón and Ramiro, the recent winners of the Coupe d’Or in Deauville under the name of Barriere. Their opponents in the final held in Normandy, Los Dragones Rouge, will also be in Chantilly, as well as Sztarkman’s family other foursome, Los Dragones Bleu.
Sainte Mesme, Barriere, La Magdeleine, Kazak and Mungo, some of the strongest organisations within French Polo, will be playing in Chantilly. Sébastien Aguettant’s Kazak not only had a successful season in the Polo de Paris but they recently played their first ever high goal season in Sotogrande, reaching the semifinals of the Gold Cup. A British team is ready to compete, Spencer MacCarthy’s Emlor, who will be joined by Max Charlton, Matt Perry and James Emilyn.
The 23rd. Open de France promises to deliver great polo in a stunning destination, close to Paris; great quality polo and very good teams, who aim to win the most important tournament in France, in an edition to remember.
