There’s still a long way to go until the 2025 Argentine season begins; yet, the Argentine Association of Polo (AAP) announced the eight teams who are eligible to play the coveted Triple Crown – Hurlingham Open, Tortugas Open and Argentine Open – as well as those who will be able to participate in the Qualification tournament, that awards two spots to play the Argentine Open.
Without any doubts, the 2025 season will be bring more expectations than ever. After the end of the last Triple Crown, all the teams changed quickly. Therefore, the 2025 Triple Crown will see eight brand new lineups; from the last winners at Palermo (La Natividad) to the lowest rated teams. And perhaps the most significant of them all is La Natividad-La Dolfina, the all-Cañuelas foursome, that brings the Cambiasos and the Castagnolas together. In addition, this strong partnership will be the only team rated at 40-goals.
After spending two years with La Natividad, and as a current winner of the Argentine Open, Facundo Pieres will be back with Ellerstina, with his brother Gonzalito, alongside the two Heguy cousins, Antonio and Cruz; the third Pieres brother, Nicolás, will play the qualification again, with La Zeta Kazak, in a lineup that will include Pelon Stirling. The Uruguay-born star, who announced his retirement from the Triple Crown, will sub in for the sadly late Rufino Lauhlé, who was due to play with his brother Beltrán.
Two organisations will be back to the big leagues – Sol de Agosto and Los Machitos. Meanwhile, La Hache will feature two teams, and the main lineup joined forces with La Irenita. UAE, who teamed up with Ellerstina in 2024, will present their own team, El Overo Z7 UAE, with Polito Pieres, Lukin Monteverde, Tomás Panelo and Juan Martín Nero. Last but not least, Juano Britos and Jero del Carril will remain with La Ensenada along with new team mates, Sapo Caset and Rufino Bensadon.
