SD Farms and Bientina are through the final of the Ylvisaker Cup, the second leg of the NPC 16-Goal Championship, with the big and much anticipated final is due on Sunday April 13, at the National Polo Center (NPC), located in Wellington, Florida, United States. The semifinals of the tournament, that kicked off on January 28, took place on Wednesday February 13.
It’s worth to remember that the NPC 16-Goal Championship is composed of the Joe Barry Memorial Cup, Ylvisaker Cup, Iglehart Cup and Outback Cup
In the first semifinal, SD Farms claimed a narrow 8-7 win over Flying H. Polo; the game was decided in the last chukka through a Penalty 1 conversion. Up next, Bientina defeated the recent winners of the Joe Barry Memorial Cup, Zapican BMW, by a 12-5 score.
The Ylvisaker Cup, established in 2003, is named after William T. “Bill” Ylvisaker, a true pioneer of the sport and the responsible for developing the Wellington area, in Florida, into a high-goal winter polo. The founder of the Palm Beach Polo and Country Club, Bill Ylvisaker contributed extensively to spread not only polo but also other equestrian sports, in the 70s and 80s. The current Ylvisaker Cup sees twelve teams up to 16 goals, partake. Teams are split in four brackets.
SD Farms and Bientina will clash for the Ylvisaker Cup on Sunday February 16.
