The Queen’s Cup continued on Sunday, May 22, with victories for Park Place and Great Oaks Les Lions. Park Place claimed a debut win against Murus Sanctus, while Great Oaks Les Lions, recent runners up of the Justerini & Brooks Prince of Wales Trophy, defeated Vikings. Guards Polo Club’s most prestigious tournament sees fifteen teams, up to 22 goals, compete for the title.
In the first match, Park Place displayed solid team play. The first two chukkas were very tight, but they managed to remain in the lead throughout the game and claim a 13-11 victory over Murus Sanctus. Next, Great Oaks Les Lions defeated Vikings by 14 goals to 9. Dillon Bacon’s team took control of the game from the start, but they took a big advantage from the fourth chukka onwards, lead by their flagship player, 18-year-old Cruz Heguy, son and grandson of two of the most legendary figures in the sport, Eduardo “Ruso” Heguy and Alberto Pedro Heguy, respectively. Cruz is already considered one of the best players of the current British season so far.
