The Open de France resumed on Wednesday September 7, with two games played at Polo Club du Domaine de Chanitlly and La Magdeleine. The tournament is undergoing a historical edition, that sees no less than sixteen teams up to 16 goal, in participation. Following the games that took place on Wednesday, Kazak and Amanara demonstrated to be in their best form and secured each a spot in the quarter finals of the tournament.
Kazak defeated Tédélou in what was perhaps the best match of the competition so far. Both Kazak and Tédélou played a hard fought very close contest, until Jerónimo del Carril produced a decisive goal in the last minutes of play. In the follow up, Amanara and Sainte Mesme battled under the rain to play a crucial match – the winner would claim a spot in the tournament’s next stage. Sainte Mesme got off to a better start, but Amanara bounced back and even took the lead. In the last seconds within the game, Benjamin Panelo converted a 40-yards penalty to tie at 10-all and sent the contest to an extra chukka. That’s when another 40-yards penalty awarded to Amanara was successfully converted by Santiago Amadori, to secure a place in the quarter finals.
The final of the Open de France is set to be played on Sunday, September 18.
