The Old Westbury Cup kicked off last weekend at Meadowbrook Polo Club. The teams that battled in game #1 were The Island House (Kristos Magrini, Peter Holowesko, Toro Ruiz and Pedro Gutiérrez) and White Birch (Jamal Nusseibeh, Tommy Schwenke, Mariano Aguerre and Nick Manifold). At halftime, White Birch had a 3 goal lead over The Island House with the score 6-3.

In the fourth chukker, The Island House played catch-up scoring 3 goals while White Birch notched 1 goal. After 4 chukkers, the game was closer with the score 7-6 White Birch. In chukker five, The Island House put 3 balls through the uprights while White Birch tapped 2 in the goal. At the end of 5 chukkers, it became a new ball game with the score tied at 9 each. In the sixth and final chukker Kristos Magrini took the ball with authority downfield scoring the winning goal giving The Island House the victory in game #1 in the Old Westbury 12-Goal Cup.
