The last league games of the EMAAR Cup took place through Monday February 16 and Tuesday February 17, at the Dubai Polo & Equestrian Club. The sixth edition of the tournament is the last 12-goal competition to be played at the club.

 

Noon (1-0) and El Basha (0-1) played on Monday. They both previously faced Bin Drai (1-1), and, depending on the result, they were likely to go to a penalty shootout. But that was not the case. At the end of the day, it was a very tough, hard fought match, that ended with Noon victorious 4.5-4 and stepped into the semis as well as Bin Drai.

 

Meanwhile, Lamar, already qualified to the next phase, clashed against Equiti (0-2), who is due to play the Subsidiary semifinal. Lamar remained in the lead thoroghout the whole game, but in the last chukka, Equiti bounced back thanks to a goal produced by Yuyo Colombres and won 5.5-5.

 

AM Polo (1-1) and Abu Dhabi (1-1) met up to play the last game, under a slight rain. The winner would advance to the semifinals and the loser would play the Subsidiary semifinal. It was AM Polo who claimed a 2.5-1 victory and got into the semifinals.

 

The semifinals  are due on Thursday February 20 (Subsidiary) and Friday February 21 (EMAAR Cup), with the following order of play:

  • Subsidiary Semifinal – Thursday February 20

El Basha vs Equiti 

  • Semifinals EMAAR Cup – Friday February 21

Noon vs AM Polo 

Bin Drai vs Lamar
