Following a thrilling match, a very close and balanced contest, Monterosso earned a tight 12-11 win over Talandracas in the single match for the Gold Cup for the British Open, played on Saturday July 10. The tournament, one of the three Grand Slams of Polo, alongside the Argentine Open and the US Open, sees thirteen teams up to 22 goals, compete.
Monterosso and Talandracas fought hard until they reached a 8-all with only one chukka remaining. A tough battle followed from both sides in the last chukka, but it was Monterosso who took the victory under their belts. In the sixth chukka, Monterosso’s Pelon Stirling was replaced by Juan Martín Zubía.
The Gold Cup for the British Open will continue on Sunday July 11, with the match between UAE and Great Oaks Les Lions (Lawns Grounds 2), at 3pm. The winner will claim the Argentine Ambassadors Cup
The final of the Gold Cup is set for Sunday, July 25.
