Bautista Bayugar produced the winning goal in extra chukka, to secure Los Dragones Red a narrow 9-8 win against Los Dragones Blue on Wednesday August 9, the first day of action for the prestigious Coupe d’Or, the tournament that kicked off the season at the Deauville International Polo Club, set in Normandy, Northwest France, and a part of the traditional Barriere Deauville Polo Cup. The contest sees three competitions – Coupe d’Or, Ladies Polo Cup and Coupe de Bronze, and will run through August 9-27.
Meanwhile, the Ladies Polo Cup have already commenced as well, with two matches: Augustinos Bader defeated Mc Do Deauville 6-4.5 and La Villa Sur La Plage earned a tight 3-3.5 win over Maison Décalé.
The Coupe d’Or will and the Ladies Polo Cup will resume on Thursday August 10, with single clashes each. The former will see Barriere vs. Talandracas, while Bar du Soleil and Mc Do Deauville will clash in the ladies competition. Both contests will be played at 5,30pm.
