Lawyers Polo will celebrate their tenth anniversary in style in Morocco, from September 24 – 29. The tournament aims to unite polo playing lawyers from around the world for a week of sporting fun. Lawyers Polo is about encouraging the exchange of ideas and profesional experiences in the most outstanding polo settings around the world.
“Our aim is to generate sporting, personal, and professional ties between lawyers through polo,” explains Eduardo Bérèterbide, founder of Lawyers Polo and lawyer at the firm Shearman & Sterling in Paris.
This year’s event will begin with an elegant black tie cocktail in an exclusive residency in Tangier, which will be attended by lawyers and polo players from around the world. Over the course of the following days, qualification matches will be held at PGH La Palmeraie, a spectacular private polo club which boasts three fields overlooking the Atlantic ocean. The tournament will come to an end on Saturday 29, with four finals, a prize giving ceremony, and a closing party.
The 2018 edition of the event will see eight teams compete, composed of players from all over the world, such as Argentina, Austria, Canada, Colombia, France, Germany, India, Malaysia, Morocco, Portugal, Slovakia, Singapore, Switzerland, Chile, Venezuela, the UK and USA.
Lawyers Polo has previously taken place in Buenos Aires (2008), Madrid (2009), Toronto (2010), Dubai (2011), Paris (2012), Bangkok (2015) and Sotogrande (2016).
Piero Dillier, who recently played the International Polo Cup in Saint Tropez, and who will now compete in Lawyers Polo, commented: “We are going to play in Morocco, in the club belonging to Patrick Guerrand-Hermes. Lawyers Polo is a tournament where friends who are lawyers come to play fun polo. It’s tricky finding a referee with so many lawyers on the field! We are all looking forward to it, undoubtably Patrick will organise a great event.”
