And it’s a wrap for the second edition of the La Hache Cup, the tournament hosted by Hilario Ulloa’s Club, located in General Rodríguez, Province of Buenos Aires, Argentina. In the championship match, that took place on Wednesday November 6, La Esperanza ran out the champions, after defeating Cría Marmen 7-6. It was a busy day at La Hache Polo Club – in addition to the finals of the competition, the club hosted the presentation of the two La Hache teams that are currently competing in the Triple Crown.
The day opened with the final of the Conosur Cup, between Ohra Pampa and Colorado. Marcelo Camargo’s team got off to a stronger start, and by half time they had a significant advantage. However, and thanks to a great performance by Tomás Panelo, Colorado managed to tie. In the last chukka, the scoreboard read a 11-all; but within the thirty additional seconds, Toly Ulloa picked the ball and ran to the goalposts to seal the 12-11 win for Colorado.
Cría Marmen and La Esperanza came up next, to play the championship match for the La Hache Cup. Marcelo Mendonça’s Cría Marmen earned a remarkable five goal advantage by half time. But La Esperanza bounced back, hold their contenders back, in a way they remained scoreless for the rest of the contest. It was Kevin Korst who produced the winning goal with less than one minute left, to secure La Esperanza the narrow 7-6 win and the title.
