On Saturday October 7, La Dolfina added another record to their remarkable career, and claimed the 130th. Hurlingham Open, in the championship match that took place on the Louis Lacey ground, at the Huringham Club. The Cañuelas-based foursome not only retained the title they won in 2022, after defeating La Hache Polo Team by an impressive 18-13, but they earned their 33rd. title of the Triple Crown as well as their 12nd. Hurlingham Open, to remain behind no less than Coronel Suarez, who won the tournament 21 times.
With regards to individual records, the one and only Adolfo Cambiaso won his 15th. Hurlingham Open, to equal the unforgettable Juan Carlitos Harriott; up next come Juan Martín Nero (11), Pelón Stirling (8), and Adolfo’s son, Poroto (2). Between the four of them, they won Hurlingham 36 times.
A moving tribute to the great Juan Carlitos Harriott, who sadly passed away on September 11, was held prior to the beginning of the final. With regards with the match, La Dolfina Saudi had a very strong start, sweeping La Hache Polo Team thoroghout the first half, led by Uruguay’s pride, Pelón Stirling, very well supported by Juan Martín Nero, whose performance as a back was indeed remarkable. While Adolfo Cambiaso had everything under control, his son, Poroto, was the day’s top scorer, having produced no less than ten goals, and was very accurate to convert penalties. La Dolfina Saudi overwhelmed La Hache Polo Team; by the end of the third chukka, they had a commanding 9-1 lead. However, La Hache Polo Team struggled to get in the score, trying to close the gap; halfway the last chukka they managed to remain three goals behind, but Poroto Cambiaso came quickly to produce a couple of goals to have the deal said and done – the win and the second consecutive title for La Dolfina Saudi.
