The USPA Gold Cup, the second stage of the prestigious The Gauntlet of Polo, kicked off on Thursday February 27. The competition sees eleven teams up to 22 goals, partake, who will fight for the coveted trohpy at the National Polo Center, located in Wellington, Florida, United States. La Dolfina Catamount, Clearwater and Brookshire were victorious in the two first matchdates, played on Thursday February 27 and Sunday March 2.
On Thursday, La Dolfina Catamount delivered their best polo to overwhelm Pilot by to claim an impressive 11-6 win. Scott Devon’s foursome, back in the big leagues, played a fantastic contest, led by an outstanding Poroto Cambiaso, who produced eight goals. Meanwhile, on Sunday, there was a double matchdate, that saw Clearwater and Brookshire as the winners over Dutta Corp (11-6) and La Fe Eastern Hay (13-9), respectively.
La USPA Gold Cup was established in 1974, and has been played at many different states and clubs, such as Oak Brook Polo Club, in Illinois, Milwaukee PC, in Winconsin, Greenwich Polo Club, in Greenwich, New Bridge Polo Club, among others, and was relocated in Florida, in 1979, at Palm Beach Polo and Country Club. Some great teams took home the title more than once, including Valiente (2012, 2013, 2014, 2017, 2018), Audi (2011, 2015), Crab Orchard (2007, 2010) and Scone (2021, 2023). White Birch holds the all-time record wins with 12 titles spanning three decades.
The USPA Gold Cup will resune through Monday March 3 and Tuesday March 4, with the following order of play:
- Monday March 3
1pm: BTA vs. La Dolfina Tamera
5pm: Park Place vs. Globalport
- Tuesday March 4
1pm: Pilot vs. Coca Cola

The semifinals of the USPA Gold Cup are due on Wednesday March 19 and the final will take place on Sunday March 23.
The Gauntlet of Polo will come to an end on April 20, with the much anticipated championship match of the US Open.
