Kaia claimed a narrow 10-9 win over Zapican BMW por 10-9, and are the champions of the NPC 16-goal Championship (Wellington Polo Tour), after the championship match that took place on Sunday April 13 at the National Polo Center, in Wellington, Florida, United States. VIt’s worth to notice that Kaia stepped in as the fourth team to fill in for Copperline Farm, winners of Iglehart Cup, who withdrew from the final phase of the contest.
Kaia – who had Santos Tevez subbing in for Larry Austin – and Zapican BMW played a very tough, hard fought game, that saw two ties, 6-6 and 7-7 in the third and fourth chukkas, respectively. Otherwise, Kaia struggled to maintain a narrow lead; by the time to play the sixth and last chukka, Kaia was only 8-7 ahead. It was anyone’s game. At the end of the day, Kaia produced two crucial goals in that last episode, that led them to the 16-goal series in the United States.
