Great Oaks Les Lions claimed a tight 9-8 win over Park Place Vaara following the single match for the Justerini & Brooks Prince of Wales Trophy, hosted by the Royal County of Berkshire Polo Club, that took place at Les Lions, on Friday May 6.
Park Place Vaara got off to a great start, earning an impressive 6-0 lead within two chukkas. Despite Dillon Bacon’s foursome attempts to get closer, they were able to level the scores in the fifth chukka. By the end of the fourth chukka, they were 3-6 behind; however, they struggled and closed the gap to just one goal, until Cruz Heguy converted a penalty in the last minute of that fifth chukka to tie at 7-all. Drama was expected in the the sixth chukka, but Great Oaks Les Lions managed to produce two goals to earn a narrow win.
