Following a thrilling final, that was played at the AAP Headquarters, in Pilar, La Irenita defeated Centauros by a narrow 10-9, and claimed the Pilar Cup. La Irenita, a lineup composed by young boys with an average age of 23, bounced back in the fifth chukka, when Centauros were leading 9-6. Then, La Irenita managed to hold their contenders back, in order to produce three unanswered goals to send the match intro extra chukka. Halfway that extra chukka, it was Antonio Heguy, the legendary Pepe’s son and the grandson of the even more legendary Alberto Pedro, scored the goal that secured the victory and the title to La Irenita.
The Pilar Cup has taken place at several clubs, and the draw for playoffs have already been set. It is worth noting that the Pilar Cup is also a playoff for the Cámara de Diputados Cup. The Pilar Cup saw eighteen teams, between 24 and 30 goals, compete.
