The Gold Cup continued as UAE beat Great Oaks Les Lions by 14 goals to 13 on Sunday, July 11, at Cowdray Park Polo Club, in Midhurst, West Sussex. The championship is recognised as one of the three Grand Slams of Polo, alongside the Argentine Open and the US Open. This year’s tournament sees thirteen teams, up to 22 goals, compete.

UAE took control of the game in the second chukka, securing a commanding 6-2 lead. Great Oaks Les Lions pushed back, reduced the difference to just one goal in the fifth, and managing to tie the game 13-all in the sixth. The match went into overtime and both teams came out fighting. UAE gained possession and were able to score to seal the deal. The winners were presented with the Argentine Ambassadors Cup.

 

The British Open Gold Cup continues on Monday, July 12:

The Gold Cup final is scheduled for Sunday, July 25.
