Murus Sanctus and Scone were victorious in their respective matches for the Gold Cup for the British Open, played on Friday July 9. The tournament, hosted by Cowdray Park Polo Club, set in Midhurst, West Sussex, is one of the three Grand Slams of Polo, alongside the Argentine Open and the US Open, and sees thirteen teams up to 22 goals, compete.
Murus Sanctus beat UAE Polo Pod by a close 11-10. Despite Corinne Ricard’s team remained in the lead thoroghout the whole match, UAE Polo Pod managed to make a comeback in the last chukka, in an attempt to to tie or even win the game, but at the end of the day, luck was on Murus Sanctus’ side. Up next, Scone took an impressive 18-10 win against Vikings (who received one goal on handicap, and had Noah Hyne filling in for Siri Evejmo-Nysvseen).
The Gold Cup for the British Open will resume on Sunday July 10, with a single game, Monterosso vs. Talandracas Talandracas (Lawns Grounds 1), at 3pm.
The Gold Cup final is scheduled for Sunday, July 25.
