The Emirates Polo Championship International kicked off on Sunday January 26, at Ghantoot Racing & Polo Club, set in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The contest sees six teams up to 12 goals, compete; among them are AM Polo, the recent winners of the UAE Federation Polo Cup, alongside Bin Drai, Abu Dhabi, Lamar, El Basha and Ghantoot.

 

Ghantoot and El Basha, under the command of Aiti Garros, opened fire, with the former also battling for the Silver Cup, in Dubai. El Basha. Following a very leveled first chukka, El Basha took the lead in the second, but the story would change in the third. Ghantoot found their best form through a great performance delivered by Ali Al Marri, who produced two great goals to extend the advantage. Time was running out, and luck was on Ghantoot side, who managed to earn a narrow 5.5-5 win.

 

The Emirates Polo Championship International will resume on Monday January 27, with the following order of play:

 

Bin Drai vs AM Polo

Abu Dhabi vs Lamar
