The Dubai Gold Cup, the highlight of the season in the Middle East, resumed on Wednesday February 13, with the penultimate league phase, that saw double action at the remarkable Al Habtoor Polo Resort & Club, in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Habtoor (1-1) and Ghantoot (2-0) played the first of the two contests of the day. Although Habtoor got off to a better start, Ghantoot bounced back in the second chukka, but Mohammed Al Habtoor and Co. presented battle and managed to tie at 5-all by half time. But the story would change in the second half – with Gonzalo Ferrari producing five unanswered goals, Ghantoot secured a 11-7 win and the first ticket to the semifinals.

Up next, UAE (1-1) and Bangash (0-2) met up in a match that many thought it could be a tight clash between the two lineups. Bangash managed to earn a one goal advantage at the end of the first chukka, but Sheikha Maitha and her boys had another ideas in mind. Displaying their best weapons, under the name of Teo Lacau and Lukin Monteverde, UAE seized the reins, in a way that by the start of the last chukka, they had an impressive eleven goal advantage. While UAE slowed down a bit in the last episode, Bangash struggled to shorten the difference, but the damage has been done – UAE won 16-10, and are on their way to the semifinals.
