There is no doubt that Dubai has become one of the top international polo destinations, catering for all levels. The Championship that brought the Emirate its reputation has been the Dubai Polo Gold Cup Series. The 2019 series, which celebrates its tenth edition, is sure to be more competitive than ever. Once again, the Al Habtoor Polo Resort & Club, an oasis for all horse lovers, is set to host the event. The club boasts three world class fields, perfect for high level polo.
Several of the best polo players in the world will be playing alongside up-and-coming youngsters, with the most important patrons of the region. Las Monjitas player Facundo Sola is set to return to Dubai; last time Sola played he won all the tournaments in which he competed. Players like Juan Gris Zavaleta, Alfredo Cappella, Alejandro Muzzio, brothers Bartolito and Camilo Castagnola, and Rauli Laplacette, one of the stars of the 2018 Gold Cup Series, will also partake in the season.
While the Silver and Gold Cups are the most prestigious tournaments to play, the season is constantly building competitive tournaments to suit all levels. The Dubai Gold Cup Series kicks off on January 25 with the Silver Cup, while the Gold Cup begins March 8. Nine teams are set to compete in the series, making it one of the most exciting to date!
