Emsworth defeated Tchogan/Libertine by 9 goals to 3 to win the Archie David Cup, the prestigious 8-goal tournament, on Saturday, June 26, at Guards Polo Club.
Meanwhile, the Catherham Cup was won by Quixote, who took a 10-7 win over CANI.
The Archie David Cup is named after Major Archie David, a founding member of Guards Polo Club alongside his great friend, His Royal Highness Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. He generously lent his ponies to several Army officers. Known previously as the Friar Park Cup (after Mayor David’s manor in Henley-on-Thames), the club named the cup in his memory following his passing in 1971.
