Following the two last league matches, that were played Thursday March 6, Bhansali and Ankora/Lamar are through the final of the Dubai Polo Challenge Cup, that’s underway at the magnificient Al Habtoor Polo Resort and Club, in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The tournament, that forms part of the prestigious Dubai Gold Cup Series, saw five teams up to 10 goals, partake.

 

In the first game, Bhansali clashed against El Basha, in a tight contest that was dominated by the orange jerseys; in the last seconds in regulation time, the scores were tied at 6-all, but at the end of the day, a great goal by Martín Rozendal gave Bhansali the 7-6 win and the first spot in the final.

 

Ankora/Lamar and Habtoor came up next in the clash of the unbeaten; that meant that the winner would advance to the final. Ankora/Lamar had a 3.5-3 advantage by half time, led by Santos Iriarte and Chulo Guerrero, while Marcos Panelo was Habtoor’s crucial weapon. Habtoor did their best to try to bounce back during the last chukkas, but it wsa Chulo Guerrero who put the ice on the cake. Ankora/Lamar won 7.5-6 and will go head-to-head against Bhansali for the title.

 

BHANSALI AND ANKORA/LAMAR ARE SET TO PLAY THE FINAL OF THE DUBAI POLO CHALLENGE CUP ON SATURDAY MARCH 8.
