The Dubai Gold Cup continued through Saturday February 8 and Sunday February 9, at the magnificient Al Habtoor Polo Resort & Club, in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Habtoor, Ghantoot and Jehangiri were victorious. The highlight of the season in the Middle East sees six teams up to 20 goals, in participation.

On Saturday, Habtoor and Dubai Wolves met again, with the former in the best form having previously won the Dubai Silver Cup. However, Habtoor managed do tominate their contenders, taking wide advantages in the two and second chukkas, holding the Wolves back in the last episode. At the end of the day, Mohammed Al Habtoor’s foursome claimed a 11-7 win.

On Sunday, newcomers, Jehangiri, with Gonzalito Pieres and Alejandro Muzzio within the lineup, clashed against Bangash. Both lost in their respective debuts, so they needed a victory to maintain a hope in order to reach the semifinals. Jehangiri and Bangash played a very tight contest, with just a handful of goals in the three first chukkas. But in the two last chukkas, Jehangiri, under the command of Gonzalito and Alejandro, took off and sealed the deal in the last chukka, emerging victorious by a 7-5 score.

In the follow-up, Ghantoot and UAE met in the clash of the unbeaten, so they were in search of a second victory to remain on the path to the semifinals. It was another close match, with plenty of fouls, that didn’t allow to widen the advantage on both sides. And so close it was, that they ended tied at 9-all in regulation time, leading the game into an extra chukka, when Gonzalo Ferrari produced a great play that ended up in the goal that secure Ghantoot the 10-9 victory.
