Mungo made a successful debut in the opening day of the Coupe d’Or, defeating Brittany Polo by 7 goals to 6. The tournament, played since 1950, is one of the most coveted polo trophies of the international calendar. The 2021 edition kicked off on Saturday, August 14. Six teams, up to 16 goals, are playing for the title.
Following a scoreless first chukka, Mungo took the lead in the second. They took control of the match in the third, reaching a three goals advantage in the penultimate chukka. However, Jean-Francois Decaux’s foursome were far from giving up. They bounced back in the last, narrowing the gap to just one goal, but the damage had already been done. The final bell rang and Mungo took home a very important debut win.
The Coupe d’Or continues on Sunday, August 15, with a match between Barriere and Talandracas, due at 5,30pm.
The final of the Coupe d’Or is scheduled for Sunday, August 29.
