Copperline Farms and Los Machitos El Refugio qualified to the final of the Iglehart Cup, the third leg of the NPC 16-goal Championship (Wellington Polo Tour), following the semifinals that were played at Patagones Polo Club on Wednesday March 12. 

 

It’s worth to remember that the big championship game of the NPC 16-goal Championship (Wellington PoloTour) is set to be played on Sunday April 13 at the National Polo Center (NPC), in Wellington, Florida, United States. The Iglehart Cup sees fifteen teams up to 16 goals, in participation. Teams are split in four leagues.

 

Copperline Farms defeated Zapican BMW (winners of the Joe Barry Memorial Cup) by a 11-8 score; Los Machitos El Refugio had to fight hard against 90210 Polo, in a tough game that ended with the former victorious 13-12, in extra chukka.

 

Copperline Farm and Los Machitos El Refugio will go head-to-head for the Iglehart Cup on Saturday March 15, at Patagones Polo Club (Valiente ground), at 4pm (Palm Beach time).

 

The Iglehart Cup is named after Philip L. B. Iglehart. He started to play polo at a very young age, and was rated at 7 goals, which he held for 13 years. Some of Iglehart’s accomplishments include a U.S. Open Polo Championship (1953), leadership at Meadowbrook Polo Club in Medford, New York, and the creation of Gulfstream Polo Club, in Lake Worth, Florida, currently defunct. Philip Iglehart was inducted into the Museum of Polo and Hall of Fame in 1993, Iglehart is not only a Hall of Famer, but bears one of the Hall of Fame’s highest honors in his name, as well, The Philip Iglehart Award, established in 2021, to acknowledge exceptional lifetime contributions to the sport.

 

The final of the Iglehart Cup will take place on Saturday March 15.
