In a historic moment in polo history, Carpathian/Maltese Falcons, captained by Melissa Ganzi, won the first ever polo tournament in Romania, the the First Arena Singureni Polo Cup, following the championship match that took place on Sunday October 13 at Singureni Manor. The three-days event had an extraordinary success due to the remarkable organisation by World Polo Events led by the always entusiastic Reto Gaudenzi, who resumed the experience by quoting, “Polo is in Romania to stay – how fantastic is that?”.

And indeed, the contest had a fabulous last day, that saw an exhibition of wonderful Arabian horses, Romanian music and packed grandsstands, with VIP areas, and no less than ten Ambassadors in attendance. Without doubts, the First Arena Singureni Polo Cup was an enormous success, and already looking forward to repeating in 2025.

With regards to the final, Carpathian Maltese Falcons and Grand Champions Polo Club Wellington played a fantastic match, very close and hard fought until the last minute of play. It was almost decided in extra chukka, but Alejandro Novillo Astrada converted a penalty with seconds to go in regulation time, to seal the deal, and secure the red jerseys a tight 8-7 win.

Previously, Azerbaijan Land of Fire beat St. Moritz 8-4 and won the Subsidiary Trophy.
