The semifinals of the high goal Turkish Airlines Gold Cup, the highlight of the 53rd. International Polo Tournament Andalucía, took place on Wednesday August 28 at Ayala Polo Club, in Sotogrande, Spain, and saw Calatagan and ATL Marine & Energy victorious.
Calatagan and Sainte Mesme opened fire on ground four, to play a very hard contest, with both teams exchanging the leadership. By the start of the sixth chukka, the French lineup managed to bounce back tied at 11-all to send the game into extra chukka. It was Antonio Heguy who produced the winning goal that earned Calatagan the first spot in the final.
Meanwhile, ATL Marine & Energy and Kazak would meet on ground three to determine the second finalist. The Spaniard foursome dominated the match and the scoreboard, led by Barto Castagnola, who delivered one of his best performances of the current season in Spain. At the end of the day, ATL claimed the 12-6 win, and will aim for their first ever high goal title.
