Talandracas, the recent winners of the Queen’s Cup, and La Dolfina Great Oaks, claimed wins in the opening day of the British Open Polo Championship for the Cowdray Gold Cup, that kicked off on Tuesday June 25. The contest, hosted by Cowdray Park Polo Club, in Midhurst, West Sussex, England, and one of the three Grand Slams of polo, sees eighteen teams up to 22 goals, compete.

 

Action started at midday, with Talandracas victorious over Desert Palm in a very close match that ended up in extra chukka – Talandracas won 11-10 and grabbed the trophy of the day, the Carlos Gracida Memorial Trophy, a tribute to the extraordinary and unforgettable Mexican player, who claimed the British Open more than anyone else, ten times, a record which has not been yet overcame. Meanwhile, the Carmignac family’s team continue on the winning path and still unbeaten in the 2024 season in England.
