The second day of action of the British Open Polo Championship for the Cowdray Gold Cup, the highlight of the English season and hosted by Cowdray Park Polo Club, was played on Wednesday June 26, on a busy day that saw three games. Title holders, UAE; runner up, Dubai, and Ferne Park, were victorious.
Title holders, UAE and Park Place, who claimed the title in 2022, opened fire. Both teams played a very narrow contest during four chukkas until UAE took off in the fifth, when they outscored their contenders 5-1. That wide difference, and the outstanding performance delivered by Tommy Beresford, led UAE to a 13-9 win.
Newcoments, Sujan Indian Tigers played the second match against last year’s runner up, Dubai. Under the command of the magnificient Jeta Castagnola, who produced ten goals, Ali Albward’s lineup claimed and impressive 14-9 victory.
Last but not least, White Crane and Ferne Park made their absolute debut in the Gold Cup. White Crane earned a quick 4-0 lead in the first chukka, but Ferne Park bounced back and leveled the scores. The contest was decided in the last seconds, thanks to a goal by Pelón Stirling, who secured the recent winners of the Warwickshire Cup a narrow 10-9 win.
