Park Place and UAE Polo were victorious over Black Bears and Monterosso, respectively, following another double matchdate for the British Open Polo Championship for the Cowdray Gold Cup, that took place on Thursday July 6 at Cowdray Park Polo Club, set in Midhurst, West Sussex. Both teams secured their second consecutive wins in the prestigious tournament.

Reigning champions, Park Place, had to fight hard against Black Bears, in a contest that was only decided in the last chukka. Juan Martin Nero produced an early goal in that last episode, to give Black Bears a one goal advantage; but it didn’t last long. James Harper and Facundo Pieres (2) quickly replied to have the deal said and done for Andrey Borodin’s lineup.

The following game, played at Brooks, UAE Polo went head-to-head against Monterosso. While UAE seeked for another win, the latter had already lost their two previous matches. After two balanced chukkas, UAE Polo took off in the third chukka, and widened their advantage, led by Barto Castagnola. With a remarkable organisation behind, one of the best in the world, UAE Polo claimed an impressive victory over Monterosso, that allow them to dream big in the current British Open.

The final of the British Open Polo Championship for the Cowdray Gold Cup is due on Sunday July 23.
