On Wednesday July 7, Marqués de Riscal defeated Vikings 11-9, and joined Dubai in the next stage of the British Open Polo Championship for the Cowdray Gold Cup. Meanqhile, Talandracas claimed an impressive win against Scone. The competition, one of the three Grand Slams of Polo along with the US Open and the Argentino Abierto, is hosted by Cowdray Park Polo Club, set in Midhurst, West Sussex.

In the opening match, Talandracas, with Hughes Carmignac subbing in for his father, Edouard, defeated Scone, with Adolfo Cambiaso back on the saddle, 13-7, following a remarkable team play, led by Polito Pieres, who produced six goals.

Up next, Marqués de Riscal claimed their third win, this time against Vikings, by a 11-9 score, in a match that had a very leveled first half, until Vikings (with Charlotte Pykett subbing in for Siri Evjemo-Nysveen) reached half time with a 6-4 advantage. Alejandro Aznar’s foursome made a comeback from the fourth chukka onwards, under the command of a brilliant Guillermo Caset, one of the best players of the tournament, who scored ten goals.
