The British Open Polo Championship for the Cowdray Gold Cup resumed on Tuesday July 4, with another double matchdate, that saw Marqués de Riscal and Vikings victorious over Talandracas and Marqués BP Polo, respectively. The wins give both teams a good perspective towards the upcoming stages of the competion, that’s due to finish on Sunday July 23.

In the day’s opening game, Marqués de Riscal earned their second victory. Alejandro Aznar (who produced two goals) and Co. delivered a powerful performance and beat Talandracas by an impressive 14-8.  It is worth noting that Marqués de Riscal reached the quarter finals in 2022, and their lineup has slightly changed since 2021, when Alejandro Aznar, Santiago Cernadas and Guillermo Caset won the Gold Cup, in Sotogrande.

In the follow-up, Vikings, who had Charlotte Pykett subbing in for  Siri Evjemo-Nysveen once again, displayed their best team play to defeat BP Polo 12-6, and finished every chukka in the lead. Currently, Vikings have a 3-1 record, led by Diego Cavangh’s crucial contribution. Although Diego scored six goals, we remark that Vikings were able to dominated the match based on a remarkable teamplay.
