On Tuesday July 5, Marqués de Riscal marked a perfect 4-0 record and finished the league stage of the British Open Championship for the Cowdray Gold Cup, unbeaten. King Power earned the second victory of the day, in the penultimate league round, prior to the quarter finals, due next weekend. Cowdray Park Polo Club’s premier tournament sees fourteen teams up to 23 goals, compete.
Alejandro Aznar’s Spaniard foursome, Marqués de Riscal, claimed a brilliant win over Park Place Vaara, following an overwhelming comeback. Park Place Vaara easily dominated the first half, until they reached a commanding 6-3 lead by half time. But Marqués de Riscal bounced back in the fourth chukka – the determined Spaniard team managed to hold Vaara back and produced five consecutive goals, in order to outscore them 5-0, which not only placed them in the lead but also left the deal amost said and done. They secured the final 9-7 win in the fifth, as the sixth chukka remained scoreles. Up next, and after a very balanced match, King Power beat Vikings 9-6.
