The British Open Gold Cup resumed on Wednesday, July 7, with two matches. Both Great Oaks Les Lions and UAE claimed victories at Cowdray Park Polo Club. The championship is considered is one of the three Grand Slams of Polo, alongside the Argentine Open and the US Open. This year’s tournament sees thirteen teams, up to 22 goals, compete.

The first match saw the clash of the Castagnola brothers, as Great Oaks Les Lions (Barto) defeated Talandracas (Camilo) by 11 goals to 8. Dillon Bacon’s team got off to a powerful start, dominating Talandracas in the first half. Talandracas fought hard to close the gap in the following chukkas, but the damage was already done: Great Oaks Les Lions’ commanding 5-0 lead in the first chukka was enough to secure a 10-8 win.

Up next, Queen’s Cup champions UAE  took a 16-12 win over BP Polo. Polito Pieres gave an extraordinary performance, scoring no less than 11 goals.
