On Tuesday July 11, Talandracas and Dubai were victorious, in the penultimate qualifying stage of the British Open Polo Championship for the Cowdray Gold Cup, following their wins against BP Polo and Green Gates, respectively. But despite the wins, both Talandracas and Green Gates will face very different fates within the tournament. The tournament is hosted by Cowdray Park Polo Club, in Midhurst, West Sussex.

Although Edouard Carmignac’s Talandracas earned their second win in the competition, it was not enough to reach the penalty shootout due next Thursday, in search for one of the two tickets to quarter finals. They ended up tied with Vikings in the final standings within League C, but the latter’s win in the clash against each other, allowed Vikings to remain third, while Scone and Marqués de Riscal qualified directly to the next stage.

Meanwhile, Rashid Albwardy’s Dubai secured the first place within League B following four victories, that allow them the first pre-qualified team in the general standings towards the quarter final matchups. On the other side, Green Gates, who lost to Dubai, remained third within the League and will be at the penalty shootouts. The second place within League B went to La Magdelaine.

League A will be decided on Wednesday. The winner of the clash between Park Place and UAE will qualify to quarter final; the loser, must be wait the result of King Power vs. Black Bears. If King Power beat Black Bears, the Thai-based lineup will secure a place in quarter finals and Black Bears will be out of competition; othersiwe, if Black Bears claims a win over King Polo, there will be a triple tie between Black Bears, King Power and the loser of the clash between Park Place and UAE.

The final of the British Open Polo Championship for the Cowdray Gold Cup is due on Sunday July 23.
