Action for the British Open Polo Championship for the Cowdray Gold Cup, resumed on Wednesday June 28. The prestigious tournament is hosted by Cowdray Park Polo Club, set in Midhurst, West Sussex, England, and the 2023 edition sees fifteen teams up to 22 goals, in participation. As happened on Tuesday, the second matchdate had double action.
In the first game of the day, La Magdeleine, the recent runner up of The Queen’s Cup, made a remarkable comeback in a match that saw them behind by the end of each chukka. And despite they were trailing by two goals at the start of the last chukka, Pablo MacDonough, the team’s flagship man, produced three unanswered goals, to secure the victory for Alex Garese’s lineup.
The second clash of the day was a very different story, indeed. The 2019 champions, Dubai, claimed an impressive 10-3 win over Twelve Oaks. Although the first chukka ended tied at 1-all, Dubai overwhelmed Twelve Oaks from the second chukka onwards, and dominated the match and the scoreboard until the end of the game.
The final of the British Open Polo Championship for the Cowdray Gold Cup is due on Sunday July 23.
