Aurora Polo beat 90210 Polo Team 14-10, and won the XV La Aguada Ladies Cup, following the championship match that took place at La Aguada Polo Club, in Open Door, Province of Buenos Aires, Argentina, on Tuesday October 15. The prestigious ladies tournament kicked off the 2024 Spring Season at the Novillo Astrada family ‘s club, and saw six teams up to 30 goals (ladies handicap), in participation. Teams were split in two leagues. It’s worth to note that La Aguada Ladies Cup is the first stage of the ladies polo circuit, Ladies Grand Series, hosted by the Argentine Association of Polo.
Both teams already clashed in the qualification stage, on October 11, with Aurora Polo victorious; and there was no rematch for 90210 Polo Team in the final. Although both teams played a remarkable contest and 90210 Polo Team received four goals on handicap, Aurora Polo, composed by Izzy Brockett, Hazel Jackson, Hope Arellano and Candelaria Fernández Araujo managed to close the gap slowly. They were 4-8 behind by half time, but in the fourth, they bounced back, when they tied at 9-all, thanks to the significant contribution of the American extraordinary 10-goaler, Hope Arellano, the MVP of the final. Hope seized the reins by producing enough goals to allow Aurora Polo earn their first lead in the fifth chukka (11-10), while moving forwards to dominate their contenders for the remainder of the game. At the end of the day, luck was on the Aurora Polo girls’ side, who claimed the XV La Aguada Ladies Cup.
In other finals, the Subsidiary I Escorihuela Gascón Cup went to Los Sauces SouthCross Logistics, who took a tight 11-10 win over La Hache Thai Polo por 11-10, while Frigorífico Rioplantense won the Subsidiary II Equidiet Cup, after defeating Las Indias 11-9.
