AlUla narrowly defeated Richard Mille by 5 goals to 4 to win the second edition of the Richard Mille AlUla Desert Polo, which took place in one of the most exquisite polo destinations in the world, AlUla, in Saudi Arabia, the home of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Hegra, on Saturday, February 12.

The Subsidiary went to Bentley, who defeated Saudia 3-1.

After the success of the second edition of the tournament, Adolfo Cambiaso, the Ambassador for AlUla said: “It is great and I am happy that AlUla won the tournament. The event exceeded our expectations and we are very much looking forward to coming back soon.”

Cambiaso’s teammate, HRH Prince Salman bin Sultan bin Salman, from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, added: “It’s been a tough tournament, with incredible opposition, but we are very happy and fortunate to have won with this incredible team, with Adolfo Cambiaso and Mohammed Al Habtoor, two players who taught me so much. It was a privilege to have played in this event in AlUla with them.”

Amr F. Zedan, Chairman of the Saudi Polo Federation stated: “The Richard Mille AlUla Desert Polo is a total change for the sport in Saudi Arabia. The high quality of play, the incredible setting, and the addition of having such legendary players alongside Saudi Arabia’s best and brightest prospects, as well as prominent figures in the polo world, have combined to perfection. Everything is in place to develop great things for polo in Saudi Arabia and we are excited for the future of the sport in this area. We are also delighted to be able to see the debut of several Saudi talents throughout the weekend, including HRH Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Saud, the winner of the SPF Award for the Most Promising Player, HRH Prince Salman bin Mansour Al Saud, as well as HH Prince Abdulrahman bin Faisal AlSaud, Dr. Hosam Zowai and Noor Abu Khadra.”

Organised by the Royal Commission for AlUla in partnership with the Saudi Polo Federation, Richard Mille AlUla Desert Polo was a perfect finale to the stunning Winter at Tantora festival, the very first music and cultural festival in the Kingdom. Held in the shadows of Hegra, Saudi Arabia’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site, a new chapter in the history of Saudi Arabia’s equestrian heritage was written, as the world’s best players, polo patrons and professionals from around the world contributed to the potential of the Kingdom to become a global powerhouse in the sport.
