The 84th. Tortugas Open, the second leg of the coveted Triple Crown in Argentina, resumed on Sunday October 13, at Tortugas Country Club, with double action, in a day that saw La Dolfina Saudi and La Hache victorious over La Hache Cría & Polo and La Ensenada, respectively.

In the day’s first match, La Dolfina Saudi, the recent runner up of the Hurlingham Open and with Gonzalo Ferrari subbing in for the injured Adolfo Cambiaso, beat La Hache Cría & Polo 17-13. The contest had a rough start, due a fall suffered by La Hache Cría & Polo’s Facundo Sola, fortunately with no consequences for him; however, he was unable to continue and he had to be replaced by Iñaki Laprida. Following a 2-all in the first chukka, La Dolfina Saudi seized the reins and claimed the lead, And although their contenders presented battle, at the end of the day, luck was on La Dolfina Saudi’s side.

A remarkable contests between La Hache and La Ensenada would follow. The first half belonged to La Ensenada, who were three goals ahead by half time (8-5). But things changed dramatically from the fifth chukka onwards, La Hache, led by an outstanding Polito Pieres, very well supported by Fran Elizalde and Polito Pieres, made a great comeback and they earned their first lead in the six chukka (11-8). While La Ensenada fought hard to bounce back to re-take the lead, La Hache scored their last goal in the seventh chukka, and that was enought to win a game that seemed almost impossible at the start.
