The 84th. Tortugas Open resumed on Sunday October 20, with two League B games, that saw La Hache and La Ensenada victorious over La Hache Cría & Polo and La Dolfina Saudi, respectively. La Hache is still unbeaten and the leader within League B; but, although they earned a remarkable victory, La Ensenada don’t have any chances to advance to the championship match, due to goal average, which is favourable to La Dolfina Saudi (+30 La Dolfina Saudi, +24 La Ensenada)
The clash of the Ulloa brothers, Hilario (La Hache) and Toly (La Hache Cría & Polo), opened fire. In a game dominated by plenty of fouls, La Hache seized the reins over their brother team, led by another spectacular performance dlivered by Polito Pieres, who scored ten goals, Meanwhile, and despite Facundo Sola’s efforts, La Hache Cría & Polo struggled thoroghout the eight chukkas of play. At the end of the day, La Hache claimed a 16-14 win, that gives them the chance to play for the second spot in the championship match.
But the big blow would come in the following contest, between La Ensenada and La Dolfina Saudi (with Guillermo Terrera subbing in for the injured Adolfo Cambiaso). Both teams went literally into a battlefield, playing a very tight game, that saw the two foursomes either exchanging the leadership or tying several times, until the last chukka, when a 13-all sent the game into overtime. And within 34 seconds in extra chukka, it was Alfredo Bigatti who produced the winning goal, to secure La Ensenada a narrow 14-13 victory. A very significant victory, indeed, over a multiple champion and 40-goal lineup, that gives them enough confidence for what comes next – the Argentine Polo Open Championship.
