La Ensenada and Ellerstina were victorious in the two last League A contests of the 84th. Tortugas Open, after defeating La Hache Cría & Polo and Indios Chapaleufu, respectively, on Saturday October 26. However, it’s worth to notice that no finalist has been revealed today. The scenario is the following:
- Ellerstina’s win swept La Natividad’s hopes to reach the championship match. In that case, Ellerstina will be able to play the final only if La Natividad beat Cría La Dolfina. But if the latter win, then they will be able go through the final.
- Meanwhile and following La Ensenada’s victory today, La Dolfina is obliged to win their match against La Hache for two goals or more, in order to advance to the final. Otherwise, La Hache will be finalist.
- To make a long story short, the decisive game of the second leg of the Argentine Triple Crown will be determined on Sunday October 27.
In the opening game, La Ensenada claimed a 20-19 win over La Hache Cría & Polo, in one of the most remarkable matches of the season so far. With both of them out of the contest, they played at their best in a game that saw no less than 39 goals. The result as well as the fantastic performance delivered by the two lineups, with La Ensenada’s Juano Britos as the MVP (he produced eight goals), secure La Ensenada and La Hache Cría & Polo a great deal of confidence towards the next step, no less than the 131st. Argentine Polo Open Championship.
The follow-up was another terrific match that saw Ellerstina competing against the brand new Indios Chapaleufu lineup, with two members of the fourth generation of the legendary Heguy family, Cruz and Antonio Heguy, alongside Teo Lacau and Torito Ruiz. After a quick 2-all in the first chukka, the Intendente Alvear-based foursome took the lead, which they maintained thoroghout most of the game, with the exception of the third chukka, when Ellerstina were 7-6 ahead. Indios Chapaleufu, however, never gave up, and demonstrated to be up to the task, when they re-claimed the lead in the two following chukkas, until Ellerstina, led by the lethal duo, Sapo Caset and Lukin Monteverde, bounced back halfway in the sixth. They outscored their contenders 4-0 in two chukkas, and by the start of the last episode, Ellerstina had a 11-8 advantage. Although Indios Chapaleufu outscored Ellerstina 2-1 in the last chukka, luck was on Gonzalito Pieres’ & Co’s side, who took the 12-10 win home.
