The 53rd. International Polo Tournament Andalucía, hosted by Ayala Polo Club, in Sotogrande, Spain, came to an end on Saturday August 31. Everything was set and ready for the third final of the season between 1896 Polo and Calatagan. On this occasion, it was the low goal Gold Cup; they previously clashed in the Bronze Cup and Silver Cup.
While packed grandsstands were expectant about the much anticipated high goal final due on Los Pinos ground two, the decisive low goal contest would take place on Los Pinos ground four. 1896 Polo and Calatagan played a very tough, hard fought contest, with both teams exchanging the leadershisp. The Moroccan lineup claimed the first two chukkas, but their contenders took the lead in the two following chukkas, until they tied at 10-all in the last, that sent the game into an extra chukka. It was Segundo Fernández Llorente who produced the winning goal to secure 1896 their second title of the year.
