It’s the final countdown for the much anticipated championship match of the 131st. Argentine Polo Open Championship. Following the two last league games, the finalist have been revealed. In the most important of the two played on Tuesday December 4, meaning the semifinal (or league decider), La Dolfina Saudi defeated Ellerstina and the most significant polo tournament worldwide will see the 80-goal final between the two Cañuelas-based foursomes. Yes, it’s La Natividad vs. La Dolfina once again!

 

The match between Ellerstina and La Dolfina was a very balanced contest, in which both teams exchanged the leadership and remained on each other’s tails thoroghout most of the game. The close score remained until the last chukka, when La Dolfina managed to earn significant advantages, until Adolfo Cambiaso produced “the” goal of the game within a few seconds left – the goal that secured La Dolfina the 15-12 win and the second ticket to the final. Therefore, La Dolfina Saudi will go head-to-head against La Natividad, in search of the most coveted polo trophy of the world, for a four year in a row.

 

It’s worth to nocice a couple of facts with regards to the final – since their inception, in 2000, La Dolfina have played every final of the Argentine Open, with the exception of 2004; in addition, La Natividad and La Dolfina will play the second 80-goal final at Palermo. The first was in 2009, when La Dolfina (Adolfo Cambiaso, Lucas Monteverde, Mariano Aguerre and Lolo Castagnola) beat Ellerstina 17-16.

 

LA ENSENADA WILL REMAIN IN THE TRIPLE CROWN

Previously, La Ensenada and La Zeta Kazak played a crucial match – both lineups needed a win in order to qualify for the 2025 Triple Crown. La Ensenada and La Zeta Kazak played a very balanced first half; however, La Ensenada managed to bounce back, and found their best form, to claim an impressive 16-7 victory that earned them a place to play the 2025 Triple Crown. And La Ensenada’s win allowed La Hache Cría & Polo to go for the playoff against La Dolfina Valiente, the winners of the Cámara de Diputados Cup, in search for the eighth place within the 2025 Triple Crown.

 

Therefore, the 131st Argentine Polo Open Championship will come to an end on Sunday December 8, with the much awaited 80-goal final between La Natividad and La Dolfina, due at 4pm.
